Below you will find important details about the upcoming Northwest Youth Football Season. We are extremely excited, as I’m sure you are, for football to get started! Rest assured that more information is on the way as soon as teams and coaches are finalized.

TEAM FORMATION & OPPONENTS

Most of the first week of practice will be used as an evaluation period to create competitively balanced teams. After practice on Tuesday night teams will be created by the NWYF Board, Grade-Level Admins and 3rd Grade Head Coaches. Teams will be communicated thereafter by your Head Coach. As we go through this process, we will do our best to honor coach and friend requests but cannot guarantee it.

3rd Grade will be playing teams from the Iowa Development Youth Football League (https://sites.google.com/dcgschools.com/idyfl/home)

PRACTICE DAYS & LOCATIONS

Practices will start the week of August 21st on the field between Waukee Middle School and Waukee Stadium. Each practice will be 90 minutes and will run from 5:30 – 7:00 PM. NWYF issued practice jerseys should be worn for all practices.

• Week 1 practice schedule will start August 22nd and will be Tuesday & Thursday
  • Evaluations for team creation will be Tuesday.  The first team practice will be on Thursday  
• Week 2 practices will be Monday & Thursday; coaches may schedule 1 additional practice if they choose.
• Week 3 and after there will be a maximum of two practices per week on Monday and Thursday

EQUIPMENT

Padded helmets, flags and practice jerseys will be handed out at the first practice and must be brought to all practices.

GAME DAYS & LOCATIONS

Games will be on Sundays. Full schedules, including locations and times will be released one week before the first game.

Other Notable Dates

• September 10th: Scrimmage
• September 17th: Week 1 Games
• October 15th or 22nd: Last Game of the season (specific date is based on whether a team has a bye)
